An MRI scanner functions by detecting minute electrical signals emitted from the patient during the scanning process, which are subsequently transformed into the familiar images. However, any external electrical interference picked up by the scanner can distort or compromise these images. To mitigate this risk, the scanner is encased within a copper Faraday Cage or Shielded Room, engineered to minimize the ingress of external interference into the scanner.
Each supplier of MRI scanners provides specific criteria for the performance of the Faraday Cage, including the required shielding effectiveness and the frequency range of operation. Shielding effectiveness denotes the extent to which external signals must be attenuated. After installation, and prior to the MRI scanner installation, we are able to carry out Shielding Effectiveness Testing (SE) on the constructed Faraday Cage. The outcome of these tests will ascertain whether the examination room meets the standards mandated by the scanner manufacturer.
Quality Shielding Cage offers comprehensive magnetic shield solutions for all MRI systems. Our skilled teams of MRI shield installers are prepared to install your magnetic shield solution anywhere in the world.
